Aquatic Studies

Wetlands are extremely important and fragile habitats that play a critical role in the ecosystem. In this secondary program, students will survey the Snake River (or Shaw Pond, depending on water conditions) for benthic macroinvertebrates, and learn how to calculate the biotic index of the water body based on the organisms observed. They will also calculate the flow rate of the river and learn about basic water chemistry tests that help determine the health of the river.

Grades: 7, 8, Secondary
