Biodiversity and Invasive Species Hike

On this interactive hike, students will learn about the difference between native and introduced species that are present at Shaw Woods. We will discuss the characteristics of invasive introduced species and the impact some of these invasives are having in our local environment. Students will also have the opportunity to compare the biodiversity present in different habitats on the property, and discuss why the presence of a diversity of habitats makes Shaw Woods so special and aids in the forest’s resilience.
